Abstract

This study was motivated by the low cognitive learning outcomes of fifth-grade students in Fiqh subjects at MIN 4 Garut. Many students had not achieved the Minimum Mastery Criteria (KKM) due to low learning interest, limited interaction, and the use of traditional teaching methods. To address this issue, the Game-Based Learning model was implemented to improve cognitive learning outcomes. The research employed a quantitative approach with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design involving 30 students. The instruments used were tests and observation sheets. The observation results showed teacher engagement at 91.11% and student engagement at 84.44%, both categorized as very good. The average score increased from 49.92 to 78.75. The Paired Samples T-Test showed a significance value of 0.00 < 0.05, and the N-Gain score of 0.60 was categorized as moderate. Thus, the model proved effective in improving cognitive learning outcomes and fostering active and enjoyable learning.
