Pemikiran Ibnu Khaldun tentang Pendidikan: Relevansi dan Implikasinya bagi Pendidikan Islam Kontemporer

Education from an Islamic perspective is not merely understood as a process of knowledge transfer, but also as a means of forming the human personality in a holistic manner. One of the classical Islamic thinkers who made a significant contribution to educational thought is Ibn Khaldun. Through his monumental work Muqaddimah, Ibn Khaldun articulated comprehensive views on the nature of human beings, the teaching–learning process, educational methods, and the relationship between education and social dynamics. This study aims to examine Ibn Khaldun’s educational thought and to analyze its relevance and implications for contemporary Islamic education. The research employs a qualitative approach using the library research method, with Muqaddimah as the primary source alongside relevant secondary literature. The findings indicate that Ibn Khaldun’s educational concepts—such as the gradual learning process, rejection of violence in education, the importance of contextualizing knowledge, and the integration of religious and rational sciences—remain highly relevant to the challenges faced by modern Islamic education. These ideas can serve as a philosophical foundation for the development of curricula, learning methods, and Islamic educational systems that are humanistic, contextual, and oriented toward the formation of civilization.
