Abstract

This study aims to analyze the managerial functions of the principal in creating an effective school at SDIT Al Wahdah Kepulauan Selayar. The managerial functions examined include planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling. This research employs a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects consist of the principal, teachers, and educational staff. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis uses an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity is ensured through source and technique triangulation.  The results of the study indicate that the principal’s managerial functions in creating an effective school have been implemented quite well. Planning is carried out through participatory program development, organizing through clear task distribution, actuating through direction and supervision of teachers, and controlling through periodic evaluation activities. However, several obstacles were identified, such as suboptimal needs analysis in planning, overlapping tasks in organizing, limited time for supervision, and insufficient follow-up of evaluation results. Therefore, improving the managerial competence of the principal is necessary to achieve optimal school effectiveness.
