Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in shaping Islamic character at TK IT Imam Syafi’i 02 Samarinda. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive research design. The research subjects included PAI teachers, the principal, and students. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis used an interactive model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and method triangulation.  The results show that the role of PAI teachers in shaping Islamic character has been well implemented through habituation, role modeling, and religious programs such as collective prayers, congregational prayers, and memorization of supplications. Teachers act as educators, mentors, motivators, and role models for students. Behavioral changes are reflected in students’ politeness, discipline, and worship habits. However, there are several obstacles, such as differences in family backgrounds and limited learning time. Therefore, collaboration between schools and parents and the improvement of learning strategies are needed to optimize and sustain the development of Islamic character.
