Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of scientific debate based on Islamic Religious Education (PAI) values and its supporting and inhibiting factors at Pondok Pesantren Daarul Uluum Kampus 212. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving students, mentors, and management34. Data analysis followed the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña interactive model5. The findings reveal that debates are structured using the British Parliamentary model, emphasizing Islamic ethics like honesty, tasamuh, and sharia-based evidence67. This activity significantly improves students' critical thinking in analyzing problems, constructing logical arguments, and evaluating opinions89. Supporting factors include institutional backing and actual issues, while inhibiting factors involve literacy gaps and lack of confidence1011. In conclusion, PAI-based scientific debate effectively develops critical reasoning and fosters civilized Islamic character.
