Abstract

The development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education presents both opportunities and significant ethical challenges, particularly regarding plagiarism, technological dependency, and the erosion of critical thinking skills. Existing global digital ethics approaches tend to be externally regulatory and have not yet addressed the moral and spiritual dimensions of users. This study aims to reconstruct an Islamic digital ethics framework for the use of AI through a conceptual-analytical library research approach. Data sources include classical Islamic literature, Scopus-indexed articles, and international policy documents, analyzed using content analysis and comparative-synthetic analysis. The results indicate that Islamic digital ethics can be reconstructed within a multidimensional model integrating four dimensions: (1) theological-philosophical, grounded in the principles of maqasid al-sharia as the highest evaluative framework; (2) character-moral, operationalizing the values of adab and akhlak in concrete digital behavior; (3) critical-competence, building digital literacy and critical thinking skills grounded in ethics; and (4) participatory-social, fostering active and responsible Islamic digital citizenship. This model affirms that maqasid syariah has a direct correspondence with global digital ethics principles, while simultaneously offering a spiritual dimension absent in conventional regulatory frameworks. This research contributes to the development of a contextual digital ethics curriculum for Islamic educational institutions in the AI era.
