Kopi sebagai Strategi Kognitif: Analisis Atkinson-Shiffrin dan Mekanisme Neurobiologis Mahasiswa

Abstract

Penelitian terdahulu cenderung mengkaji dampak konsumsi kopi secara terpisah antara aspek kesehatan murni dan psikologi umum. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan gambaran komprehensif mengenai efek konsumsi kopi melalui perspektif psikologi belajar dengan menyelidiki mekanisme biologis yang memengaruhinya. Metode yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan desain studi pustaka (library research) serta teknik analisis isi (content analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsumsi kopi dosis moderat (2–3 cangkir per hari atau sekitar 150 mg) aman dan efektif meningkatkan fungsi kognitif mahasiswa seperti atensi dan memori dengan bertindak sebagai attentional gatekeeper. Namun, performa kognitif ini tidak berjalan linear melainkan mengikuti pola kurva U-terbalik dari Hukum Yerkes-Dodson; konsumsi kafein yang berlebihan justru memicu kecemasan akademik dan gangguan tidur yang mempersempit kapasitas memori kerja mahasiswa. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan dan memberikan kontribusi akademik utama berupa pengisian kekosongan literatur dengan mereposisi konsumsi kopi sebagai bagian dari gaya belajar (learning styles) dan strategi kognitif mahasiswa, sekaligus menyusun kerangka teoretis integratif yang memadukan model pemrosesan informasi Atkinson-Shiffrin dengan mekanisme neurobiologis otak.
